E. R. Wagner, Milwaukee, Increases Stamping Capacity

E. R. Wagner Manufacturing Company, Hinges and Stampings Division, has completed installation of a 400 Ton press and Cooper-Weymouth, Peterson (CWP) 36" coil processing system. This allows increased internal stamping capacity to handle coil stock 36" wide by .125" thick, 24" wide by .187" thick and 12" wide x .250" thick materials from 15,000 pound coils.

The CWP system includes a SMXIII-36H high capacity, two roll servo feed with anti-backup rolls, adjustable height cabinet, automatic lubrication system, automatic adjustable edge guides, and touch screen operator interface platform.

The feed control utilizes "Total System Control Technology", which allows standard feed parameters and straightener roll position parameters, to be stored, recalled, and automatically set from job memory.

A CWP Model 36HDD7 straightener
provides precise coil stock straightening. Backed-up rolls allow the widest effective thickness range in the industry. Additionally, the straightener is equipped with powered roll adjustment, which allows adjusting the banked upper rolls either with touch screen buttons, by automatic positioning to a pre-set position using material thickness input, or by job selection recall from the feed control.

A coil hold down, threader, peeler system is integrated into the system for easily threading heavy materials. The system includes hydraulically driven threading rolls, which drive the material's leading edge into a hydraulically operated coil end wing bender. This unit provides the ability to flatten, upturn, or downturn the coil's leading edge, guiding it into the straightener's entry pinch rolls. The wing bender can also be used to assist in preparing the tail end of the coil to allow passing through the straightener.

The 15,000 pound capacity, CWP Model 5R-36 Uncoiler handles coils up to 72" OD. It is equipped with hydraulic expansion, inching drive and a fail-safe braking system. A secondary hold-down arm is located at the back of the uncoiler.

A CWP Model 15036CLC/CU Combination Coil Loading Car and Up-ender provides the ability to tip coils from "eye-up" to "eye horizontal", then raise to align the coil ID with the uncoiler spindle. Later, the system traverses to retrieve the next coil.

CWP's consolidated control technology with our exclusive "Auto-Ready" system, ties the entire system together. PLC interfacing ensures that all threading sequences are performed in the proper order. Touch screen technology provides the operator with graphically displayed, step-by-step threading procedures, detailed preventive maintenance procedures and fault/control diagnostics.
